Announcing our collaboration with Count Us In
We hope that all of you who joined us last month for THE TIME IS NOW/Museums as Agents of Change were as fired up as we were by the six extraordinary leaders who spoke with such power and optimism about the urgent need for action in our global community. (Do watch here if you have not already!)
Today, we’re excited to take a first very real step on this journey as we announce our collaboration as part of a new worldwide movement. Count Us In is a global campaign with a mission to inspire one billion people to take practical steps to reduce their carbon impact. A diverse coalition from across culture, faith, sport, cities and business are already in - and that includes us!
Unlike many campaigns that have come before, Count Us In aims to move beyond the activist community to instead focus on motivating a global ‘middle’ to make simple changes that are not just good for the planet, but good for all of us too. The impact of all of these actions will be counted from day one, with a simple aggregator that shows all of us taking part how the commitments we make add up to something much bigger.
Our role at the Museum for the United Nations - UN Live is a crucial one. As a founding partner, we are taking the lead in bringing the world's museums and their audiences into this radically collaborative coalition - so we can all be counted in as part of this gigantic worldwide effort. As last month’s discussion demonstrated, museums are absolutely critical to a campaign like this, so a dedicated Museum for the United Nations - UN Live x Count Us In platform is coming soon to ensure we can all take part.
We will also be working to galvanise participation from right across the wider creative industries and cultural sector, and we’re proud that our current partners Flipflopi, VozTerra and Wildaid have already joined us as part of the campaign.
We want to count you all in too – as individuals and as organisations. Please watch this space or reach out to us with your ideas.
We’re in! Can we count you in too?
Who we are and why we existWe are not a conventional museum. We are a new kind of cultural institution – one that aims to use the power of creativity and culture to engage and empower billions
